The moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.  All sorts of things occur to help one that would not otherwise have occurred.  A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have dreamed would come his way.

The preceding article in this series – A Landing-a-Man-on-the-Moon Goal for Achieving 100% Renewable Energy – showed how decision-makers’ commitment to an inspiring and measurably achievable goal makes achievement of the goal inevitable.

What might a group of decision-makers committing to achieving a goal of 100% renewable energy look like?

A group of decision-makers committing to achieving a goal of 100% renewable energy might look like you engaging decision-makers in conversation and inviting them to consider committing to an inspiring and measurably achievable goal of 100% renewable energy.

Hawaii Story:  In early 2012, I initiated a series of one-on-one conversations with decision-makers at Hawaii’s principal electric utility (Hawaiian Electric) about a goal of 100% renewable energy.  I asked decision-makers at the utility, “What might a goal of 100% renewable energy look like?”

Over the next three years, those initial conversations multiplied by decision-makers at the utility conversing with one another about a goal of 100% renewable energy.  During those 3 years, those conversations multiplied to the point that decision-makers at the utility came into consensus that they wanted to achieve a goal of 100% renewable energy.

During Hawaii’s 2015 legislative session, when Hawaii legislators proposed a 100% Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) committing the utility to a goal of 100% renewable energy, decision-makers at the utility said “yes” to 100% RPS because they already had come into consensus on wanting to achieve a goal of 100% renewable energy.

Once decision-makers at the utility came into consensus that they wanted to achieve a goal of 100% renewable energy, decision-makers at the legislature came into consensus on legislating a goal of 100% renewable energy for the electric utilities.
